2020 Summer Camp Update

Written By

Smaller camp sizes, more time outside and creative thinking.

We know these are trying times for everyone, including parents. With schools closed through the end of the school year, the pressures of homeschooling and a growing need to keep kids entertained at home; we could all just use a little light at the end of this uncertain tunnel.

Planning ahead

While it’s too early to know exactly what our summer months will bring, Edgeworks remains optimistic that we will still be able to provide Summer Camp programming – it just might look a little different from what we’re all used to.

Reduced Camp Sizes

The health and well-being of our members, guests and staff will continue to be paramount in our decision-making. For that reason, we’ve already made the decision to reduce the number of participants in each of our camps from 12 participants to 6. Once the current social distancing order is lifted, we will refer to state, CDC and WHO guidelines for event and group gatherings and make further adjustments if necessary.

More Time Outside

Additionally, we’re anticipating a government mandate that could limit the number of people allowed inside the gym at one time. The good news is that so much of our Summer Camp programming, fun and adventure can be done outside! Our amazing Youth Program and Outdoor Guide staff are already researching a variety of outdoor locations, from local areas in Tacoma to North Bend and anywhere in between. There is a very good chance that ALL of our camps will include an element of outdoor adventure this summer!

Silver Linings

The other silver lining of these changes is the opportunity to develop a new curriculum that will continue to engage and inspire the kids to keep climbing and exploring the outdoors. Again, our staff are brainstorming some really fun ideas that may just result in better than ever experiences for our campers!

Keeping You Updated

As news from the government continues to develop over the coming weeks, we will be sure to keep you updated with any changes on our end as well. We also invite you to check our website, Facebook and Instagram accounts or drop us an email at climb@edgeworksclimbing.com.

We’d be happy to hear from you!
