Edgeworks
at Hueco Tanks |
|
|
|
By
Sean Stidham - Edgeworks Member
Spring break. To most this is a time to forget about
work/school, party, or just be lazy. Not for climbers;
spring break is the perfect time to head out to
your favorite local crag, or road trip to a new
destination and explore. We opted for the latter. |
|
|
|
March
22nd, myself and nine others embarked on a journey
down to the bouldering Mecca 'Hueco Tanks'. With
its amazing colors, features, and ancient paintings,
Hueco by far exceeded any of our expectations. Knowing
we only had a week, we hit classic after classic,
one by one checking off our tick list. As the week
went by we all experienced proud and frustrating
moments. The |
|
|
|
|
last
few days we ran around frantically trying to finish
our projects before our time was up. We finished
off the week with a guided tour of east mountain
and east spur, by our awesome and knowledgeable
guide Chuck. |
|
|
|
As
the week came to an end we were sad to leave,
but definitely ready for a shower! We had thrashed
ourselves for a week and it showed. We exchanged
war wounds and sends, and agreed it had been an
awesome trip. Despite some hoops you have to jump
through in order to climb at Hueco, it is definitely
one of the most amazing destinations you can visit.
I encourage anyone, climber or not, to visit Hueco
Tanks if given the opportunity. My tick list for
next trip is already started.
Cheers!
- Sean
